University Tuition Increase all over US
Finally graduating High School and taking all of these College Board Exams, the freshman enters this world for the first time in his/her life as an independent person. This new feeling of independence blocks rational thinking which the Beast uses and takes advantage to lure them towards The College Matrix. Student Loans are taken out of desperation because many have the mentality that a college degree is the only thing you need to be a success in this world. With this mentality, thousands of dollars/pounds/euros/etc.. worth of loans do not matter since with a college degree, you will earn one million dollars more over your life time. You are now entering The College Matrix…
Do a search on the web first about the University of
Phoenix then run as fast as you can to a “real” ethical
college. The University of Phoenix is actually a for profit
corporation.The results are very scary. I almost fell for
their ubiquitous advertising. Get a respectable degree from
a respectable college.
The alternative is to take it upon yourself and educate yourself! When people say you don’t need college, what they are saying is that you don’t need to spend buttloads of cash to get the same education. All you need is the will to sit your ass down and go to a library or browse online and learn.
Or you can find similar institutions for a much cheaper price.
I made a mistake on my calculations. its actually $36.85 an hour for an inside wireman after 5 years. Raises are based on hours worked roughly 1000 hours not years.
We all know college is a load of crap BUT no one ever talks about the alternative to make money and that’s what I’m looking for.
FaithfulAndTrue1..part1..It’s hard to tell, I don’t know what you want to do. I’m currently looking at IBEW Local 11 to become an electricians apprentice. Unions often have good apprenticeship programs, but the majority of jobs out there are non-union. Many of those jobs require some type of skill or academics which without an apprenticeship is leaving people dependent on college or the military.
FaithfulAndTrue1..part2..College will often put you in debt & the military takes away your personal sovereignty. It’s really hard right now but if you think about what it is you want to do, find out if there is such a program for what you’re going for. Make sure that the career you choose is what you’d like to do or else you’ll live a miserable life regardless of income. I live close to L.A. so I’m familiar with the area, I might even be able to offer advice.

FaithfulAndTrue1..part1..A good alternative to college would be for people to form unions with good apprenticeship programs much like the trades and industrial workers do. My brother who is taking graphic arts at a community college likes the idea a lot better than going to a prestigious over priced art school after community. I’m currently brushing up on my math and algebra so I can take & pass the test for the IBEW’s apprenticeship.
FaithfulAndTrue..part2..In an apprenticeship you study 2 nights a week while you work a full time job getting real world experience earning good money. Inside wireman go through a 5 year apprenticeship and starting pay is $14.74 an hour with regular pay increases. After 5 years are up, inside wireman make $22.11 and 6 years after that are making $36.85 an hour. Training is paid for by the union and their contractors, the only thing you pay for are books and tax deductible union dues.
FaithfulAndTrue..part3..That sure beats working p/t at Best Buy for minimum wage going into debt for a degree that will guarantee you little if anything. I understand that the trades may not be for everyone, but I think that the apprenticeship is a good model for people in other industries to follow.
FaithfualAndTrue..part4..Class instruction makes more sense when you’re getting real world experience because the information isn’t abstract and vague. I’d much rather buy a home, save for retirement, and go on nice vacations every year than pay off student loan debt. You’re hesitation is definitely relevant. I wish you the best of luck.
I’m considering just earning my AA degree in the Spring of 2010 so that I can tell society… “I graduated college.” I could transfer. My GPA is at 3.6 but am hesitant to pay any institutions for learning things I can do on my own. Really.
Read the book “This Land is Their Land” by Barbara Ehrenreich. She points out that only manufacturing jobs were supposed to be outsourced, but now even R & D jobs are being sent overseas. The Boeing 787 is an example of a high-tech product that has been almost completely outsourced.
The music is a bit sensational, however the message is definitely relevant and underrepresented in our society. Society tells us that we will fail if we don’t go to college, and the media particularly MTV gives us constant spring break imagery that seduces ill-informed youngsters to pursue the illusion of an epic party life that will lead to a life of success. Most of those spring break narcissist are spoiled brats that have had a silver spoon up their pampered asses all of their lives.
If college tuition increases at the rate it has been, it will cost $500,000 to put one student through school by 2020. Something has gotta give.
It is a well-structured machine that fools the youth into believing that a Degree is the only ticket to a better life. In the end , the machine leaves many students with jobs that required no Degree but the only difference is the mountain of debt that has to be paid back. For those who receive a Degree in the sciences and engineering, many eventually find out that the machine is outsourcing many of those jobs to other countries. Leaving them as well with the mountain of debt. The College Matrix
